The first brand he created was Italvega and these bikes were made in Italy. In the mid 70s he moved production to Miyata in Japan and the brand changed to Univega. I picked up a couple of Univega frames last summer for $50 apiece (included a ton of random parts and a wheelset too). I converted the Gran Premio into a 650b rando-style bike, and the Gran Turismo I turned into more of a Rivendell style bike. I just love the Gran Premio, it rides like a dream, however, the Tourismo isn't much fun to ride.
